Quality Inspector – 3rd Shift

STS Packaging, a Schwarz Partners, L.P. Joint Venture company is currently seeking a Quality Inspector (3rd Shift) in Mooresville, IN. The primary responsibility of the Quality Inspector is to review samples from machines for defects and track the data. The Quality Inspector should have excellent attention to detail, willingness to work in a team environment, and ability to effectively communicate with plant employees. This position reports to the Quality and Safety Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Review product from each machine throughout the shift.
  • Check quality of product formation.
  • Track data in Excel Spreadsheets as well as other computer-based software for number of defects per machine.
  • Assist with shift training and communication as it relates to quality.
  • Check and track case weights for accuracy and consistency.
  • Review concerns with supervisor to determine if machine maintenance is needed.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership in ambiguous situations leadership skills.
  • Must follow Safety/GMP/PPE guidelines.

 

OTHER SIGNIFICANT JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Maintains a clean and safe work area and reports unsafe conditions to management for resolution.
  • Reports any major quality or food safety issues to Supervisor.
  • Conform to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures and policies to assure products are suitable for food contact.
  • Responsible for reporting any product quality or food safety issues to the Quality Manager (SQF Practitioner) or Management Team member.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Basic knowledge of MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills.
  • Excellent writing abilities.
  • Basic math abilities and general knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods preferred.

 

 (Technical, Clerical, Language, etc.):

  • Knowledge of how to perform basic quality checks.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Familiar with production terminology.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Basic understanding of OEE and how it is used to measure machine overall performance.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Constant standing, hearing, walking; frequent stooping and bending, twisting, turning, and maintaining balance.
  • Occasional kneeling and reaching over the shoulder.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be available.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Hot temperatures; noisy, uneven surfaces, mechanical hazards, dust/dirt.
