Pharmacist – PT Night Shift – Includes Weekend Hours – Eastern Long Island Hospital

 

 

 

Position Summary  

At Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital, the function of the Staff Pharmacist is to distribute and control all phar­maceuticals used by the facility and to provide information about drugs to the insti­tution’s staff and patients.

Duties of a Staff Pharmacist may include but are not limited to the following:

  • This function includes a program of Quality Improvement de­signed to monitor and assure the quality of drug use
  • The function of the Staff Pharmacist is to ensure the safe and appropriate distribution and use of pharmaceuticals throughout the facility and to provide information about medications to the institutions staff and patients
  • This function includes a program of Performance Improvement designed to monitor and assure the safe use of medications throughout the facility

  • BS in Pharmacy or a PharmD degree
  • New York State Pharmacy License – Current NY State Pharmacist Registration

Ideal Qualifications

  • Hospital Pharmacy experience
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy dispensing systems and sterile compounding, including cytotoxic and other hazardous agents

Physical Demands: Adequate ability to verbally communicate. Adequate vision. Adequate hearing. Able to use short ladder. Able to lift 30 pounds off the floor onto a countertop. Adequate mobility to retrieve stock and transport medication carts. Adequate manual dexterity to compound and dispense prescriptions, including IV admixtures and other sterile products.

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton’s Employee Health Services*
  • Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer. 

*The Human Resources department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.

As part of Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital (SBELIH) combines the best in academic and community medicine, improving access to advanced medical care for residents of the North Fork and Shelter Island. With 70 beds, SBELIH is Suffolk County’s first hospital, serving the North Fork since 1905. SBELIH provides care to 25,000 year-round residents and expanding to 60,000 summer residents with comprehensive healthcare solutions, including behavioral health, medical-surgical, orthopedics and general surgery, wound care, interventional pain management and GI, advanced ambulatory care, diagnostic, and physical therapy services.
